TUESDAY,
JUNE 16:
Same
overcast weather, although slightly warmer. June Gloom, it's dubbed
here. To the beach again. As previously, little or no sun didn't
stop us from having fun, fun, fun.
Squatting (literally??) in someone else's carefully-wrought sand castle:
Today Beth ventured out . . . all
the way out, where she was riding the waves, letting them crash over
her, and generally re-living her Hawaiian days. She came back to
shore after 30 minutes or so cold but laughing.
We
came back in the late afternoon to pack up for a 2-nite stay in an
inexpensive motel up in Anaheim. After a lot of discussion and
on-line research, we decided this was the best option for the 3 of us
in regards to Disneyland (Bill had no
real interest in going, and would be a lot of walking & standing,
so he & Pappy were happy to be batching it for a few nights.)
This solution avoids any driving - in rush hour or not, gets us in
the park early, can stay late without a 1 ½ hour drive back home,
avoid parking fees & hassles because the motel provides a
shuttle. Two full days affords us a much more relaxed, leisurely
pace. And after the second night (Thursday), we'll drive up to
Alhambra to see Grandma and meet Aunt Lynn, who's flying down from
Portland.
So after Beth doing laundry and
a delicious dinner of ribs, we headed up north and inland around
9:00. Beth drove – yippee. Easy check-in, and we were asleep by
around midnight.
