FRIDAY,
JUNE 12:
Cool
and overcast when we awoke, and never did really clear and warm up.
Fine with us – we had a lot of stuff to take care of. My first
order of business was to take a loooooooong hot shower in the park's
shower. Hadn't taken the luxury to do this since we left (anything
more than the minimum necessary). California drought?? Ne'er heard
of it!
Spent
the remainder of the day doing computer catch-up, straightening up,
napping, and then grocery shopping in the late afternoon. Since it
was so cool, and actually spitting rain some of the day, we never did
make it down to the beach.
Received
a phone call from Lynn this afternoon. She had received about 3
phone calls from Atherton (retirement home where our Mother is in
Alhambra) during the past couple of weeks, including 1 today. She's
markedly declining – eating very little, refusing Physical Therapy,
etc. Lynn was
already
scheduled to fly in next weekend (Friday nite)
to see us all;
will alter her plans if necessary to come sooner. The plan is for
Bill and me to drive up to see Mother tomorrow afternoon, and assess
the situation. We were driving up north tomorrow anyway, to pick up
Beth & Landon at the Orange County airport tomorrow evening. So
we'll just leave earlier to spend a couple of hours at Atherton
before going to the airport. So it may be very, very providential
that we're out here in Southern Calif at this time, and not having to
make a special trip. On the other hand, I don't exactly relish
dealing another stress-filled crisis right now. Just as I was
beginning to wind down and relax and catch up on some rest!
For
a good-sized family-oriented RV park, it's remarkably quiet and
peaceful here. Had our screen door open most of the day, and heard
very little noise, from kids or otherwise. I think they run a pretty
tight ship here. They ought to – for the price you pay! All of
the staff we've met have been very friendly and helpful. I think
it'll be a very pleasant 2 weeks here, especially once the sun breaks
out!
